User updates iPhone firmware on unlocked iPhone: bricks
September 28, 2007ZDNet reports on one unfortunate iPhone owner, iPhone Central’s Jonathan Seff, who tried to use their unlocked iPhone after running the latest update from Apple, only to see it report an “incorrect SIM card”. Replacing the SIM with a new one made no difference.
That doesn’t mean it’s totally irreparable, but it’s rather unnerving nonetheless.
