Vodafone close to European iPhone deal, sources suggest

August 20, 2007

Apple iPhoneTwo or three months ago, Vodafone was being tipped as the most likely carrier to scoop the iPhone in Europe, but as time dragged on, other operators were tipped to get it.

The latest news (or rumour) again puts Vodafone at the top of the pile. According to “sources”, Apple and Vodafone are in the final stages of signing a European iPhone deal.

Into Mobile magazine has even published a list of demands that Vodafone has supposedly given to Apple.

These include the requirement that the YouTube application works more like the web-based version, that the iPhone syncs its calendar and email (with what? I thought it already did), that its security and firewalls are made “better”, that Wi-Fi is simplified, and that “cut and paste” is implemented.

Oh, the suspense.
